FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is this grass fed tallow?
All of our Wagyu ranches follow the Japanese model of raising cattle on open pastures. However, honoring Japanese traditions, our suppliers finish the cattle on proprietary diets that can include brewers grains and other proprietary feeds. Therefore, our Wagyu Beef Tallow is not 100% Grass Fed.
Does the Spray use propellants or chemicals?
We designed our Sprayable Wagyu Beef Tallow to spray using air pressure only. This is a Bag-On-Valve (BOV) system that holds the oil inside of the can in a sealed bag, and uses air pressure to release the product when sprayed. There are no chemical propellants, additives, or CFCs in this product!
What is the best use for Wagyu Tallow?
Wagyu Beef Tallow can be substituted 1:1 for any liquid or solid fat in any recipe! We suggest you get adventurous! However, our customers most often use the product for searing steaks, moistening briskets, frying eggs, or roasting veggies. One of our favorite uses at South Chicago Packing is to substitute Wagyu Beef Tallow in place of Canola oil in brownies. Just buy your favorite brownie mix and follow the directions on the package using Wagyu Tallow instead.
What is the difference between tallow and lard?
The difference between Tallow and Lard is the animals that the fat comes from. Tallow is beef fat (from cows) and Lard is pork fat (from pigs).
What is Shelf life of the product?
The best by date will be stamped on the bottom of the can.
How long does shipping take?
We aim for a shipping time of 5 days or less in the continental US.
MY CAN ISN’T SPRAYING, WHAT CAN I DO?
If the spray can gets cold the fat may solidify making it unable to spray properly. If you think that the nozzle may be clogged, please run the nozzle under hot water for 30 –60 seconds to melt the oil. If the can has been refrigerated or exposed to cold temperatures, you can submerge the can in hot water for the same amount of time which will also work. DO NOT REFRIGERATE THIS PRODUCT. The can should be stored at room temperature in order to spray properly.
