INGREDIENTS:
- ¼ cup Traditional All-purpose Lard
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 cup molasses
- 2 ½ cup all purpose flour
- 1 ½ tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ginger
- ½ tsp clove
- ½ tsp salt
STEP-BY-STEP:
- Combine ½ cup sugar, ¼ cup all-purpose lard, ½ cup butter, 1 egg, 1 cup molasses and 1 cup hot water.
- Next combine 2 ½ cup all purpose flour, 1 ½ tsp baking soda, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp ginger, ½ tsp clove, ½ tsp salt.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
- Pour into a lard-greased and floured 9x13 baking pan. Bake for approximately 45 minutes at 350 degrees or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Serve warm with whipped cream and extra cinnamon
